Implantable Contact Lens (ICL)

Not every patient is a good candidate for LASIK, but there are other options for improving vision including the EVO ICL™, or Implantable Collamer Lens (aka Intraocular Contact Lens). The EVO ICL is a tiny lens placed inside the eye to improve distance vision by correcting nearsightedness and, when needed,  astigmatism.  The lenses are implanted during a simple outpatient procedure that typically only takes about 20 to 30 minutes.

Although LASIK is still the most widely occurring type of refractive surgery, ICLs offer some advantages for certain patients, particularly those with extreme vision problems.

what is An ICL?

About the EVO ICL™

  • ICLs Can Correct Most Any Prescription, Regardless of the Severity.
  • Works Well for Patients with Thin Corneas
  • Chronic Dry Eye Syndrome is Not a Factor with ICLs
  • ICLs are a Reversible Procedure and Can be Adjusted if Necessary
  • Immediate Results in Vision

The FDA-approved EVO ICL, is an Implantable Collamer Lens (ICL) designed to correct nearsightedness with and without astigmatism. The small flexible lens is placed behind the iris (the colored part of the eye) and in front of the natural crystalline lens in order to improve vision. It’s like having your doctor implant a lens similar to a contact lens into your eye so you can live without the daily hassles and maintenance of typical contact lenses.

EVO ICL lens is made of biocompatible Collamer material that works in harmony with your eye. Your eye doctor will create a small opening in your cornea that will be used to insert and position the EVO ICL.

EVO ICL is well-suited for a wide variety of people. Ideal candidates for EVO ICL are aged 21 to 45 with nearsightedness, with or without astigmatism, and have maintained a stable prescription for at least one year. If you are seeking a solution to decrease or eliminate the cost and frustration of traditional contacts or glasses, EVO may be your answer.

The EVO ICL™ can give you the freedom to see the world without the hassles of contacts and glasses.
