Cornea Infections

The cornea, or clear tissue on the front of the eye, can be damaged from trauma like a fingernail scratch. Other times, bacteria or fungi from a contaminated contact lens can pass into the cornea causing a painful infection. These infections can also reduce vision and perhaps erode the cornea. As a general rule, the deeper the cornea infection, the more severe the symptoms and complications.

Cornea infections are commonly treated with anti-microbial eye drops. Frequent visits to your eye care professional may be necessary.
