Eyelid Ptosis Repair

Eyelid Ptosis (pronounced “toe-sis”) occurs when the upper eyelids droop down to the point that they cause a reduction in a person’s visual field…either partially or completely obstructing the pupil. Patients with ptosis can experience difficulty in keeping their eyelids open. Often times, they will compensate by arching their eyebrows to effectively raise the drooping eyelids enough to see.

Common Causes of Eyelid Ptosis

  • Age-Related Weakening of the Muscles
  • Trauma
  • Neurological Disease

Dr. Neel M. Kumar treats eyelid ptosis using a variety of advanced surgical techniques. Dr. Kumar will develop a care plan based on the patient’s individual case and needs. The goal of any eyelid ptosis repair procedure is to elevate the eyelid and return the patient’s full visual field while creating symmetry with the opposite upper eyelid.
