Tear Duct (Lacrimal) Surgery

Some patients experience excessive tearing because the normal tear drainage pathway becomes blocked. Tear duct blockage can be caused by a number of issues including age, tumors, allergies, and more. The buildup of extra tears becomes very bothersome when patients look like they are always crying and have to constantly wipe their cheek. The vision can also be impacted when patients try to see through a pool of tears.

This can occur at different levels of the tear drainage (lacrimal) system ranging from nasolacrimal duct obstructions, dacryocystitis, punctal or canalicular stenosis, canaliculitis, or lacrimal tumors. In certain conditions, treatment involves creating a new pathway for tears to drain into the nose by performing a dacryocystorhinostomy (DCR).

Dr. Neel Kumar completed years of training in order to specialize in treating the tear drainage (lacrimal) system. We will work with you to develop a care plan based on your individual case and needs.
