Blepharitis

Blepharitis is a common condition that causes inflammation of the eyelids. Uncontrolled blepharitis can lead to reoccurring/recurrent stye formation. A stye is an inflamed, tender bump on the the eyelid caused by an acute infection of the oil glands. Styes can turn into chronic, painless bumps on the eyelid caused chalazia.

Blepharitis can also cause problems with the eye’s natural tear film and lead to blurry visions and discomfort.

Management of blepharitis can include patient self-care treatments including the use of warm compress, eyelid scrubbing and nutritional supplementation. More severe cases may require the use of thermal pulsation (LipiFlow), topical antibiotics or steroids.
